POSITION SUMMARY:
Our team is looking for computer science interns to provide assistance in various software development projects for Amtrak.com & Mobile App using technologies and platforms such as Angular, Adobe Experience Manager, Ionic Framework, HTML, CSS, SWIFT, Java/Kotlin, etc.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Developing Description and testing code for web and mobile applications using modern methods of development across the full stack (frameworks, web services, etc.) in general and the front end in particular.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve application issues
  • Interact with team members (end-users, testers, distributors, analysts, and project/release managers) in a team-oriented fashion
  • Support projects through the entire Software Development Lifecycle
  • Follow software development methodologies and best practices
  • Provide end-user application support & adhere to web security best practices
  • Implement code fixes under the direction of software architects and senior developers
  • Contribute our suite of automated tests and testing infrastructure

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be actively pursuing a degree at an accredited educational institution.
  • Must be actively pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Computer Science or Information Technology or with a related major in Computer Sciences
  • Must have at least 1 year of academic undergraduate studies completed or a sophomore status at  minimum.
  • Must have a cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher.

 

PREFERERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • Experience in Adobe Experience Framework, Ionic, Angular, Typescript, SWIFT, Java/Kotlin in particular, and programming background in general.
  • Experience in Agile Development, Software Engineering, and Software Quality Control is a plus

 

COMMUNICATION AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:
Must have excellent oral and written communication skills

 

The hourly range is $17.50 per hour - $35.00 per hour. Pay is based on factors including school year, program of study, etc.  In addition paid internships include Amtrak rail pass privileges as a part of the experience along with one (1) PTO day per academic year.
