SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
The Technology Director Operations Technology (OT) Architecture is responsible for providing leadership to ensure technology investments are in alignment with architectural guidelines and business strategy.  This role will utilize education, guidance, and governance processes to maximize return on technology investment, and reduce time to capability, while minimizing operational costs. 

 

The Technology Director OT Architect will work closely with Architects, delivery teams and business stakeholders to develop holistic enterprise-wide strategies and architectures for Operational Technology that enable the implementation of the overarching business strategy.

 


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Responsible for collaborating with Service and Business owners to create an architecture and technology plan to support one of more IT Services / Service Offerings. Responsibilities include, but may not be limited to, the following: (See Amendment)
  • Collaborates with the peers and service owners to ensure service offering is consistent in process and spirit with the Service Offering
  • Confers with IT Service Offering leader and direct reports to develop a plan to ensure architecture is driving technology plans and delivery of technology
  • Establishes measurable individual and team objectives that are aligned with business and organizational goals. Documents and presents performance assessments. 
  • Recognizes and rewards associates commensurate with performance. Implements organizational practices for staffing, Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), diversity, performance management, development, reward and recognition, and retention
  • Develop and drive target state architectures and roadmaps that enable major strategic objectives and business change in Amtrak operations
  • Develop the Integration Strategy across the suite of OT technologies (Current & Future) required to support the business strategy of Amtrak
  • Provide architectural direction to projects to ensure that investments deliver on long terms goals and while delivering on short terms business needs
  • Foster collaboration by promoting a common architectural framework for
  • Operational Technology, sharing of existing assets and developing common services.
  • Work in closely with IT and Business partner to develop enterprise-wide architectures that enable the overarching Operations and IT 
  • Develop and drive the OT strategy for Operational Systems and provide leadership in shaping and coordinating an Operational Technology Strategy 
  • Align OT Strategy and Business Strategy in line Amtrak’s overarching strategy
  • Collaborate with delivery teams to ensure that OT Projects are consistent with the agreed OT Strategy
  • Collaborate with multiple stakeholders throughout Amtrak to contribute to strategic planning, policy development, and decision making
  • Incorporate emerging Operational Technology trends to ensure the OT strategy is current and in alignment with evolving OT needs

 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field with 11+ year’s relevant experience or equivalent work experience.
  • 15+ years of relevant work experience in business systems, development and/or support functions with a focus on Architecture and Technology Strategy.
  • Client expectation management, Program management, Financial management and Technology product delivery experience is required.
  • 11+ years of relevant technical and business managerial experience with 2 to 3 years leading an Architecture Practice.
  • May require knowledge of one processes/services. Business experience should include assignments in multiple business and technical processes.
  • Technical and/or ITIL, or equivalent Certifications 
  • Must have expert knowledge as described in amendment.
  • Requires leadership experience in managing architecture teams and influencing executive level management and key stakeholders.
  • Requires demonstrated ability to manage multiple architecture engagement and effectively plan and use staff to ensure the architecture view
  • Must possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, work well with others in an integrated team environment, and must be self-motivated.

 

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business Management, or similar relevant field
  • 13+ years of relevant work experience preferred
  • Experience working in large complex companies that heavily rely on real time 24x7 IT operations to successfully service external customers.
  • Work is performed in an office environment
  • May require travel up to 30% of the time 
  • Requires on-call status

 


COMMUNICATIONS AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:

  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.

 

The salary range is $153,660-$199,150. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. Depending on an employee’s assigned worksite or location, Amtrak may consider a geo-pay differential to be applied to the employee’s base salary. Amtrak may offer additional incentive and pay programs to recognize and reward our employees, including a short-term incentive bonus based upon factors such as individual and company performance that is commensurate with the level of the position and/or long-term incentive plan compensation.
