SUMMARY OF DUITES:
Manage the maintenance and repair activities of the New York Division equipment repair forces and shops. (Adams and Queens). Provide guidance and liaison for truck and vehicle maintenance specifications and inventory with the Director Equipment & Vehicles, GSA, and Amtrak’s Automotive group. Create, monitor, and supervise $2.5M budget for equipment spare parts and repair. Provide technical direction and training to assigned repair forces. Accountable to assign, monitor and maintain the equipment inventory assigned to the New York Division.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Responsible for the Engineering equipment safety program ensuring that equipment is safe to operate; load tested and complies with Federal safety standards. Outfits equipment with necessary apparatus to enure the safety of the public, operating employees, and equipment.
• Responsible for training program ensuring assigned personnel are qualified to maintain equipment to which they are assigned.
• Directly supervises 13 repairmen and manages two shops in Adams New Jersey and Queens New York.
• Assigns and maintains over 139 units of work equipment used to maintain the railroad from Holmsberg, Pa through Penn Station and Sunnyside Yard New York to New Rochelle New York. Maintains material inventories to support the planned and unplanned maintenance of this equipment and equipment material expense rolling-up to consolidated Cost Center budget.
• Develops and is accountable for direct $2.5M operating budget used in support of the 139units of work equipment.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Must have a High School Diploma or an Associated degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent work experience.
• Experience in transportation operations and procedures.
• Demonstrated managerial experience
• Experience in managing budgets
• Analytical and problem-solving skills, self-starter requiring little direction.
• Demonstrated experience in working with Roadway Equipment
• Demonstrated experience in using PC-based word processing and spreadsheets
• Demonstrated experience in working effectively with multiple inter-disciplinary teams
• Demonstrated years’ experience working in the work equipment field
• Some experience as a Foreman or General Foreman
• Experience with Labor Agreements
• Experience working in data-based programs such as Maximo and SAP
• Experience in preparing annual operating budgets

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Experience in managing complex programs in a operating environment
• Demonstrated experience in work and asset management applications, preferably IMB’S Maximo
• Knowledge of mechanical, pneumatic, electrical and Hydraulic systems.

 

COMMUNICATION AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:
Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
