SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
Amtrak, America’s Passenger Railroad, operates a variety of rail passenger vehicles and locomotives across 46 states and maintains these vehicles in facilities across the system. Modern and legacy equipment must be accurately maintained and modified to ensure the safety and satisfaction of passengers. The accurate and timely delivery of technical information is paramount to the safe and efficient maintenance and operation of rail vehicles and ultimately Amtrak’s success. The Manager of Rolling Stock Engineering Systems will:
- Maintain and advance enterprise-wide design software used by Mechanical Department / Rolling Stock Engineering.
- Leverage creative and technical software systems relative to Industrial Design and Engineering disciplines to facilitate innovative solutions to the Mechanical Department and other internal stakeholders.
- Develop support strategies to aid Mechanical and RSE employees in easily accessing mission critical drawings and documentation.
- Develop specifications for the intake and integration of technical data from rail vehicle manufacturers and other suppliers to ensure that Amtrak RSE can support the vehicles over their useful life.
- Monitor technology trends and advancements to develop tactical strategies to leverage cutting-edge resources while maintaining access to legacy data over time.
- Provide technical expertise and manage relationships with stakeholders, Mechanical teams, and other groups such as Information Technology.
- Develop and manage protocols for creation and management of critical vehicle documentation to accurately and expeditiously support the maintenance and procurement of rolling stock and systems as well as providing accurate information to FRA and other government agencies when needed.
- Ensure operational needs and system architecture is aligned with business and IT goals and standards
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Lead mechanical design system operation through all stages of the software lifecycle
- Review, develop, and document best practices and workflow development
- Implement and support interfaces between major software suites to provide high-rate data exchange
- Establish, monitor, and enforce processes and protocols for approvals and revision control of critical drawing and other technical data.
- Provide technical direction, analysis and implementation suggestions of products with direct benefit of Mechanical teams
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- 7 Years Managing Engineering Software
- Experience managing direct reports
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Adobe CC
- Solidworks
- Draftsight
- Dassault Systemes3D Experience
- Siemens TeamCenter PLM
- 3D Rendering
- Virtual Reality systems
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, design or IT or
- Industry experience, certifications and acquired systems knowledge and
- Relevant hands-on working experience with creative technical programs and Enterprise Product Data Management.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- On-site at Wilmington, Delaware. Hybrid schedule
- Remote work per Amtrak policy

The salary/hourly range is $124,600.00 - $161,352.00. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, internal equity, etc. Depending on an employee’s assigned worksite or location, Amtrak may consider a geo-pay differential to be applied to the employee’s base salary. Amtrak may offer additional incentive and pay programs to recognize and reward our employees, including a short-term incentive bonus based upon factors such as individual and company performance that is commensurate with the level of the position and/or long-term incentive plan compensation.
