SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

The Manager Quality Assurance audit is responsible for providing support and guidance for Lead Quality Assurance Analyst, Lead Audits, and Quality Assurance Analyst’s. Included is delivering appropriate metrics for trend analysis to key departmental stakeholders and interacting as necessary with external customers.

 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Directs the effort for the development and implementation of Amtrak’s quality management and internal audit for operations and environmental processes.
  • Collaborate with managers to understand their quality needs.
  • Develops and directs personnel deployment plans for corrective action and root cause analysis of maintenance and inspection processes. 
  • Creates and communicates expectations for audit criteria to all direct reports based upon analysis of data trends.
  • Develops employee training and improvement plans.
  • Develops communication plan for internal and external stakeholders based upon inspection result criteria that would include key findings and recommendations.
  • Responsible for audit evaluation Corrective Action Planning oversight and accountability 
  • Ability to assess and resolve problems, including by using data analytics, and proactively identification of trends that would be of concern to the Internal Audit leadership, business process owners, and senior management

 


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Undergraduate Degree in management or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Demonstrated quality management system lead audit experience per International Organization of Standards criteria.
  • Demonstrated managerial and/or supervisory experience leading a diverse group of people.

 


MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of QA standards including ISO 9000.
  • Knowledgeable in areas of railroad operations and environmental standards.
  • Knowledgeable in FRA regulations and their application to operations.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects/processes effectively to timely conclusions.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications.
  • Ability to learn new tasks (both complex and routine) in a fast-paced environment with frequently changing priorities.
  • Excellent written/oral communication skills.
  • Flexibility to work extended hours if required.

 


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Demonstrated experience with Process Management Implementation and Control.
  • ISO Lead Auditor certification.
  • Some experience in railroad related or similar transportation industry.
  • Experience with Safety Management Systems theory and implementation

 


WORK ENVIRONMENT: 

  • Occasionally performs audits in operations environment requiring bending, stooping and crouching movements for observational purposes.
  • Personal interaction with various business groups from Senior Management level through front-line employees.
  • Travel 50%

 


COMMUNICATIONS AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:

  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.

 

 

The salary/hourly range is $123,660 - $160,270. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, internal equity, etc. Depending on an employee’s assigned worksite or location, Amtrak may consider a geo-pay differential to be applied to the employee’s base salary. Amtrak may offer additional incentive and pay programs to recognize and reward our employees, including a short-term incentive bonus based upon factors such as individual and company performance that is commensurate with the level of the position and/or long-term incentive plan compensation.
