SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
The Wage & Compliance Analyst conducts audits for Train & Engine employee wages and compensation inaccordance with the labor contracts. This position is responsible for ensuring that audits accumulate complete andrelevant information to provide an appropriate factual basis for opinions and conclusions to support final paymentrecommendation.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Prepares formal reports covering authorized and unauthorized payments made to T&E employees.
  • Analyses complex issues and, when appropriate, make appropriate recommendations.
  • Processes timekeeping exceptions to ensure wage and compensation compliance with UTU and BLEagreements.
  • Presents all audit findings and proposed recommendations to inquiring business partners.
  • Makes timely reviews of exception audit reports from the paperless time ticket system.
  • Responsible for reviewing and appraising evidentiary data obtained and use as a basis for an informed objectiveopinion on the adequacy, effectiveness and efficiency of performance activities being reviewed.
  • Recommends equitable resolution of audit findings for assigned audits and provides necessary support tointernal management and other Amtrak departments to reduce Amtrak cost or to recover unauthorizedpayments.
  • Provides formal training to new hires on timekeeping practices relative to UTU and BLE agreements.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor degree in Business, Transportation or related field of study
  • 2+ years relevant experience OR an equivalent combination of education, training and work experience.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft PC-based computer applications-MS Word, MS Access, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Requires an excellent attendance record and the ability to work with others in a team environment andcommunicate with field supervision, support departments and representatives of Amtrak technology.
  • Proficient in the Labor Management System and associated changes to the system since the inception of LMSinto T&E payments, System application and products data base.

  • Prefer some experience as a CMR-Verification Clerk.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience as a verification clerk or other auditing/data analyzing functions.
  • Ability to work with others in a team environment and communicate with field supervision, support depts. andAmtrak technology representatives, etc. Good oral and written skills.
  • Demonstrates strong communications skills with senior management and business partners by consistentlyproviding complete, timely updates and effective, appropriate escalation of the issues.
  • Consistently applies excellent customer service skills when dealing with the customers.

 

COMMUNICATIONS AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:

Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.

Work schedule:  4 days in the office with 1 day remote, Monday - Friday (8:00 am - 4:30 pm)

 

The salary range is $90,000. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. Depending on an employee’s assigned worksite or location, Amtrak may consider a geo-pay differential to be applied to the employee’s base salary.
