SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

This system engineer – intern position will be responsible for application development work for ACMS (asset condition monitoring system) which involves IOT (wayside scanner & onboard train data) management and advance analytics. This role should have significant technical knowledge to support, design, develop and deploy solutions with moderate level of supervision.

                                                                                              
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Resource will work closely with vendors and other teams to design, develop and deliver moderate complexity solutions and projects
  • Collaborate with customers, business analysts and team members to understand the business requirements that drive the analysis and design of quality technical solutions. 
  • Ability to write scripts in a variety of languages for both problem solving and visualization

 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be actively pursuing a degree at an accredited educational institution.
  • Must be actively pursuing an undergraduate degree in computer science or related field.
  • Must have at least 1 year of academic undergraduate studies completed or a sophomore status at minimum.
  • Must have a cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher
  • Programming : Strong programming skills, particularly in Python.
  • Knowledge of various Image Processing techniques
  • Proficient in usage of tools for Python (Jupyter Notebooks, NumPy, SciPy, OpenCV, Matplotlib) or MATLAB (Image or Signal Processing Toolboxes)

 
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Knowledge of programming languages- Python and Java
  • Basic knowledge of databases, sql
  • Basic Understanding of any web application framework and associated development processes
  • Machine Learning or computer vision algorithm development
  • Experience with Open CV, PyTorch/TensorFlow
  • Experience and knowledge in Data analysis and imaging science applications

 

COMMUNICATIONS AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS: 

Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.

  

The hourly range is $17.50 per hour - $35.00 per hour. Pay is based on factors including school year, program of study, etc.  In addition, paid internships include Amtrak rail pass privileges as a part of the experience along with one (1) PTO day per academic year.


Summer 2025 internship program will run from May 19th - August 8, 2025.
