Job Summary

Provide technical, logistical, and administrative support to the Manager Engineering Production for the efficient and cost-effective management of large-scale construction/production work on the right of way. Work in both the office and in the field in all types of weather conditions to support a 24/7 operation.

Essential Functions

  • Monitor field activities to ensure safety compliance, reporting observations for continuous improvement.
  • Provide oversight for various project activities, ensuring adherence to scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Assist in the planning, procurement, and tracking of all materials.
  • Assist in the development of the Site-Specific Safety Work Plans.
  • Responsible for planning weekly production and approving daily production.
  • Responsible for setting up pre-job site walks with internal and external departments.
  • Conduct QA/QC checks to meet FRA and Amtrak safety standards for train operations.
  • Coordinate track projects with internal and external departments, managing labor schedules.
  • Assist the Production Manager in schedule, work plan, and safety planning
  • Responsible for CBT,  Lytx, SPARTN and Audit compliance
  • Efficiently plan and allocate resources for timely task completion.
  • It is vital to have a positive field presence and be a technical advisor to the supervisor and construction teams.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education, training and/or relevant experience. 
  • Plus 7 years of relevant work experience.
  • Demonstrate experience in Track inspection, maintenance, and construction, including switches, panels, CWR/rail, ties, and timbers.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of railroad operations, operating rules and production work procedures.
  • Qualified, or capable of qualifying, in MW-1000, NORAC, RWP, AMT-2, and applicable FRA Rules and Regulations

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant major. (i.e. Engineering) or equivalent combination of training, education and relevant experience
  • 9 years of prior relevant experience preferred
  • 4 years of relevant leadership experience

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Effectively communicate with employees and customers at all organizational levels
  • Proficient in MS Office applications for various job functions
  • Demonstrated expertise in inspection, maintenance, and construction
  • Experienced in railroad operations, operating rules, and production work procedures
  • Knowledgeable about Federal Railroad Regulations

The salary/hourly range is $103,700.00 – $134,460.00. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. Depending on an employee’s assigned worksite or location, Amtrak may consider a geo-pay differential to be applied to the employee’s base salary. Amtrak may offer additional incentive and pay programs to recognize and reward our employees, including a short-term incentive bonus based upon factors such as individual and company performance that is commensurate with the level of the position.
