Job Summary

Interface with stakeholders in both the business and IT to help align technology solutions and/or processes with Information Technology and business strategies. Demonstrate and apply an informed, if not advanced, knowledge of accepted business analysis practices and methodologies. Assess business process improvement opportunities utilizing a structured requirements process (gathering, analyzing, documenting, and managing changes) to assist in identifying priorities. Collaborate closely with business partners to identify improvement opportunities that can be realized through technology solutions and work with the business to define, analyze, and document associated requirements. Take approved projects through the full systems implementation lifecycle including business requirements, functional specification, testing, deployment, and support hand-off. Take initiative and collaborate to resolve urgent problems and act with limited authority based upon subject matter expertise. Support several moderately complex business processes. May be allocated to one or more enterprise project initiatives.

 

The train control group is executing multiple high- priority initiatives across Train Dispatch, Positive Train Control (ACSES, I-ETMS, ITCS), Electric Traction Power Systems (SCADA) and State of good repair programs. A dedicated Business Systems Analyst is required to define the requirements, develop use cases, and align business and DT workflows to ensure successful delivery of mission-critical Train Control Solutions.

 

Role is onsite based in Philadelphia, PA

Essential Functions

  • Requirements and use-case development for Train Dispatch and Positive Train Control Initiatives
  • Support SOGR programs impacting dispatch operations
  • Consolidate and standardize Train Control Group training material
  • Support future-state planning for Train Control System and Cyber security 
  • Collaborate with business and IT experts to develop business cases and cost/benefit analysis for IT initiatives/projects.
  • Facilitate process mapping sessions to document current and future processes, gap analysis, and roadmaps.
  • Lead requirements gathering, analysis, and documentation, including functional and non-functional requirements, use cases, and user stories.
  • Provide recommendations and proposed solutions based on business cases and requirements, collaborating with Architecture and technical teams.
  • Coordinate testing activities, including test planning, user acceptance testing, and data migration, ensuring systems work as expected.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education, training and/or relevant experience. 
  • Plus 6 years of relevant work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education, training and/or relevant experience. 
  • Plus 8 years of relevant work experience.

  • Exceptional communication skills, adept at presenting to diverse audiences

  • Solid analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Broad knowledge of various computer environments and technologies, with deep understanding of enterprise products
  • Extensive experience in documenting business processes, requirements, and technical specifications
  • Skilled liaison between IT and business stakeholders
  • Proficient in packaged software and enterprise solutions
  • Knowledgeable in Key Performance Indicator reporting and industry best practices
  • Experienced in Agile methodologies and techniques
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 and BA tools like Jira, Confluence, Tableau, and HP Quality Center

The salary/hourly range is $94,300.00 – $122,256.00. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. Depending on an employee’s assigned worksite or location, Amtrak may consider a geo-pay differential to be applied to the employee’s base salary. Amtrak may offer additional incentive and pay programs to recognize and reward our employees, including a short-term incentive bonus based upon factors such as individual and company performance that is commensurate with the level of the position.
