JOB SUMMARY:

 

Supports implementation and maintenance company-wide Occupational Safety and Industrial Hygiene Programs and data management system. Guide the industrial ergonomics program to partner with internal stakeholders to assess and mitigate physical risk factors.  Assists in ensuring the highest level of employee health and safety protection through the identification, evaluation, and control of workplace hazards, while promoting compliance with OSHA, FRA, and other applicable regulatory requirements. Supports exposure assessment activities, incident prevention initiatives, and the maintenance of the industrial hygiene system of record to ensure accurate tracking, reporting, and program effectiveness. 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCITONS:

 

  • Manages, analyzes, and trends occupational health, industrial hygiene and safety data utilizing EHS information management systems to evaluate performance, identify emerging risks, support regulatory compliance, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Coordinates ergonomic and industrial hygiene contractor field activities, reviews work proposals, and reports, and ensures exposure assessment, monitoring, and corrective action records are accurately maintained within applicable EHS management systems.
  • Conducts on-site visits to identify and evaluate ergonomic, safety, and health hazards and recommends engineering controls, administrative controls, and personal protective equipment requirements to protect employees.
  • Provides technical expertise and guidance to locations and field staff for ergonomic, industrial hygiene, occupational health, safety, and regulatory issues.
  • Develops and delivers employee communications regarding occupational health and safety issues; develops and presents information and data analysis to management and employees; translates technical information for effective communication to non-technical audiences.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education, training and/or relevant experience.
  • Plus 3 years of relevant work experience.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education, training and/or relevant experience.
  • Plus 5 years of relevant work experience.
  • American Board of Industrial Hygiene (ABIH)
  • Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) or actively working toward certification. 
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Graduate Safety Practitioner (GSP)

 

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:

 

  • Experience in evaluating ergonomics in industrial or transportation settings.
  • Knowledge of Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) regulations and railroad operating environments as they relate to occupational health, safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Good understanding of OSHA and safety and health regulations and their application in the workplace.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Good organization skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated skills using PC-based spreadsheet (Microsoft Excel, Access, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint) and PowerBi.
  • Ability to frequently adjust work priorities to address requests for assistance and meet short-term deadlines.

The salary/hourly range is $78,600.00 – $101,844.00. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. Depending on an employee’s assigned worksite or location, Amtrak may consider a geo-pay differential to be applied to the employee’s base salary. Amtrak may offer additional incentive and pay programs to recognize and reward our employees, including a short-term incentive bonus based upon factors such as individual and company performance that is commensurate with the level of the position.
