JOB SUMMARY:

We’re seeking a detail-oriented and creative intern to support our Creative Services team within the Corporate Communications department. The intern will assist with graphic design projects that support Amtrak’s brand storytelling efforts across digital, print, and video platforms. The intern will work closely with our in-house designers and social media team to help produce high-quality visual assets that align with Amtrak’s brand standards. This position is ideal for someone who is passionate about design, highly proficient in Adobe Creative Cloud tools (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop), and has a strong interest in visual storytelling and multimedia content creation. The intern will also have the opportunity to assist with photography, videography, and video editing on an as-needed basis.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Developing Social Media Content: Creating engaging and brand-aligned content for various social media platforms.
  • Campaign Support: Assisting in the production and execution of our All Aboard with Stephen campaign
  • Analytics Tracking: Monitoring and reporting on social media engagement and campaign performance metrics.
  • Brand Voice Management: Ensuring all content aligns with the corporate brand voice and communication guidelines.
  • Executive Profile Management: Helping manage and optimize the social media profiles of executive team members.
  • Content Calendar Management: Coordinating and maintaining the social media content calendar for the Corporate Communication team.
  • Research and Insights: Conducting research on industry trends and competitor activities to inform the All Aboard with Stephen campaign strategy.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Working closely with different team members departments to ensure cohesive messaging and strategy alignment for the All Aboard with Stephen campaign.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be actively pursuing a degree at an accredited educational institution.
  • Must be actively pursuing an undergraduate degree in Mass Communications, Public Relations, or Marketing.
  • Must have at least 1 year of academic undergraduate studies completed or a sophomore status at minimum.
  • Must have a cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with video editing tools like Final Cut Pro.
  • Understand the media landscape and current news cycle.
  • Project management experience.
  • Knowledge of effective media relations and communications best practices.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, tact, and collaboration proficiency.
  • Ability to work and thrive in a deadline-driven, fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with AP style.
  • Ability to work and manage multiple projects, simultaneously and provide ongoing metrics on activities Demonstrated skill in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and social media tools.

 

PAY TRANSPARENCY:

The hourly range is $18.00 per hour - $35.00 per hour. Pay is based on factors including school year, program of study, etc.  In addition, paid internships include Amtrak rail pass privileges as a part of the experience along with one (1) PTO day per academic year.
