Job Summary:
Responsible for supporting the External Affairs team in its management of key relationships with stakeholders, building and maintaining credibility in the public domain, support Amtrak Government Affairs state and federal teams to advance legislative and regulatory deliverables and improve transparency and awareness of capital program milestones, annual state of good repair investments and public facing service updates including service and operations.

 

Essential Functions:
• Support the External Affairs team’s efforts to manage relationships, and to build and maintain credibility among national organizations and other stakeholders, including passenger rail, environmental, and industry advocacy groups, among others, who are interested in intercity passenger rail. ·
• Support communications and outreach information sharing that highlights federal investment in Amtrak and passenger rail.
• Help develop strategies to increase engagement and brand trust through thoughtful traditional, non-traditional, and digital communications output to engage diverse audiences.
• Support drafting of graphics and documents that promote Amtrak and its priorities at conferences, legislative summits, meetings with stakeholders, and public events.
• Coordinate events, groundbreakings, ribbon-cuttings, media roundtables, site visits, and inspection train trips that illustrate the value proposition and/or improve understanding of Amtrak passenger rail service and investments.

 

Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education, training and/or relevant experience.

 

Preferred Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in political science, public policy, communications, business, or a related field is required. An equivalent combination of training, education, and relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and ArcGIS
• Willingness to travel (as much as 25%).
• Willingness to attend events, including during evenings and weekends.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, unwavering integrity, and a proven ability to perform effectively under tight deadlines. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel.

The salary/hourly range is $54,600.00 – $70,740.00. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. Depending on an employee’s assigned worksite or location, Amtrak may consider a geo-pay differential to be applied to the employee’s base salary. Amtrak may offer additional incentive and pay programs to recognize and reward our employees, including a short-term incentive bonus based upon factors such as individual and company performance that is commensurate with the level of the position.
