Summary of Duties
The IT/SR IT Officer is the primary point of contact for end-user software and hardware support. The IT/SR IT Officer will also aid in supporting overall architecture, implementation, operation, maintenance and administration of the OIG IT infrastructure, outsourcing, security tools, and applications for the Office of Inspector General (OIG). Supports other OIG groups as an internal technical expert.
Essential Functions
- Provide IT support to approximately 100 OIG employees located in our Washington, DC, headquarters and field offices around the country. Support is both desk-side and remote support.
- Implement and enforce OIG IT policies and procedures, including those for architecture, security, disaster recovery, inventory standards, purchasing, and service provision.
- Administer and support TeamMate Audit Management/Electronic Workpaper System and associated imaging software for the OIG.
- Act as the OIG Liaison between the OIG user community and the Amtrak IT Department to provide IT services such as computer hardware/software procurement/installation/retirement, move/add/change, break/fix and service requests (SRs) for data/voice/wireless networks to departmental staff.
- Maintain OIG Cloud-based systems; and a variety of internal application systems, databases and audit tools such as AssetWin Inventory Tracking Systems, TeamMate, Drupal web framework, and Microsoft Office 365.
- Manage cybersecurity vulnerabilities and incident response.
- Support, train, and work with other OIG staff as an internal technical expert.
- Research emerging technologies and best-in-class practices to improve OIG and Amtrak effectiveness and efficiency.
- Implement security tools and protocols, including encryption technologies and multi-factor authentication.
This position is for IT Officer or Sr IT Officer. The position level will be assigned based on the experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of the incumbent and will be at the sole discretion of Amtrak OIG. Additional functions for Sr IT Officer include:
- Apply NIST Cybersecurity Framework (as appropriate) and related standards to OIG systems.
- Use regulatory compliance frameworks such as FISMA and ISO 27001 to identify and assess security risks and incorporate measures to protect sensitive data.
- Facilitate the use of encryption technologies and multi-factor authentication to enhance security applications and protocols.
- Plan and manage disaster recovery and secure architecture design.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Finance or Business Administration with significant IT course work, or equivalent training, education and/or work experience.
- At least 5 years of progressively advanced Information Systems/SAP ERP or equivalent IT experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Effective analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent project and time management skills with ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity requirements and fundamentals.
Compensation
The hiring range for the IT Officer position is $103,700 - $128,021. The hiring range for the Sr IT Officer position is $124,600 - $161,018 . This is the starting salary range and does not reflect the full salary range of the position.
