JOB SUMMARY:

 

Provides legal operations, records management, and case management support to the Law Department. Administers legal records and legal hold processes, maintains matter management systems, and supports attorneys and paralegals in the management of active legal matters. Applies knowledge and interprets documents to ensure that company records are organized and classified according to established standards and guidelines.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Administer legal records, legal hold, and matter management system, ensuring records are properly organized, maintained, preserved, and accessible in accordance with legal, regulatory, and company requirements.
  • Coordinate and administer legal hold activities, including preparing and distributing preservation notices, monitoring compliance with preservation requirements, and partnering with stakeholders to support legal and regulatory obligations.
  • Provide case management support to attorneys and paralegals by conducting legal records research, performing electronic data searches, gathering responsive information, and facilitating document collection for active matters.
  • Serve as a administrator for legal database systems, including maintaining data integrity, updating case information, generating reports, and supporting continuous improvement of legal operations processes.
  • Respond to subpoenas, records requests, and records retention inquiries by analyzing information requests, identifying responsive records, coordinating with stakeholders, and ensuring timely and accurate fulfillment in accordance with established procedures.
  • Receive, process, and distribute legal and other incoming mail for the Law Department, ensuring materials are logged in, scanned, and accurately routed to the appropriate attorneys, paralegals, or department personnel in a timely manner and handled in accordance with established procedures.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education, training and/or relevant experience.
  • Legal support in a large law firm or corporate legal department, including litigation experience.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education, training and/or relevant experience.
  • Plus 2 years of relevant work experience.
  • Legal support in a large law firm or corporate legal department, including litigation experience.
  • Experience working with railroads or other industrial environments with extensive personnel policies, labor agreements, and discipline processes.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:

 

  • Possess strong interpersonal and verbal communications skills.
  • Ability to organize and analyze large volumes of information and documents.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Experience coordinating multiple cases and projects and adapt to changing priorities.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The salary/hourly range is $65,500.00 – $84,888.00. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. Depending on an employee’s assigned worksite or location, Amtrak may consider a geo-pay differential to be applied to the employee’s base salary. Amtrak may offer additional incentive and pay programs to recognize and reward our employees, including a short-term incentive bonus based upon factors such as individual and company performance that is commensurate with the level of the position.
