Job Summary

Monitor, develop, execute, and manage data system and network security across the enterprise. Develop and implement security policies and procedures such as user login and authentication rules, security breach procedures, escalation procedures, security auditing procedures, and the use of firewalls and encryption routines. Prepare status reports and metrics, along with analysis on security matters, to develop security risk analysis scenarios and response procedures.

Essential Functions

  • Deliver security solutions for complex assignments and lead security projects addressing the most challenging issues.
  • Monitor, develop, execute, manage, and assess IT security across the enterprise.
  • Continuously develop, enhance, and implement enterprise-wide security standards, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Conduct business impact analysis to ensure proper protection of resources with appropriate security measures.
  • Analyze security reports for vulnerabilities, recommend options, and respond to security incidents, conducting forensic investigations as necessary.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education, training and/or relevant experience. 
  • Plus 7 years of relevant work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education, training and/or relevant experience. 
  • Plus 9 years of relevant work experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Demonstrated experience in delivering security solutions for complex assignments, preferably in a corporate or enterprise environment. This includes a track record of successfully leading security projects to address challenging issues
  • Proven experience in monitoring, developing, executing, managing, and assessing IT security across an enterprise.
  • This entails familiarity with various security monitoring tools, techniques, and best practices
  • Experience in developing, enhancing, and implementing enterprise-wide security standards, procedures, and guidelines as well as experience conducting business impact analysis to evaluate the potential impact of security incidents on business operations and resources
  • Experience in analyzing security reports for vulnerabilities, recommending appropriate options for mitigation, and responding to security incidents. This includes conducting forensic investigations to identify the root causes of incidents and implementing corrective actions
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to analyze complex security issues, assess risks, and develop effective solutions
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate security issues, recommendations, and findings to stakeholders at all levels
  • Proficiency in project management methodologies to lead security projects from initiation to completion
  • In-depth knowledge of security technologies, tools, and techniques, including vulnerability assessment tools, SIEM (Security Information and Event Management) systems, and forensic analysis tools
  • Understanding of relevant regulatory requirements such as GDPR, PCI-DSS, HIPAA, etc., and their implications for enterprise security
  • Ability to identify security vulnerabilities, analyze complex security incidents, and propose effective solutions

The salary/hourly range is $124,600.00 – $161,352.00. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. Depending on an employee’s assigned worksite or location, Amtrak may consider a geo-pay differential to be applied to the employee’s base salary. Amtrak may offer additional incentive and pay programs to recognize and reward our employees, including a short-term incentive bonus based upon factors such as individual and company performance that is commensurate with the level of the position.
