Job Summary

The primary focus of this position will be leading and managing the development of policies, analytical reports, and centralized processes for coordinating equipment and vehicle commissioning, acceptance, and warranty activities with a focus to improve overall availability, minimize cannibalization and settlement of warranty claims with suppliers.

Essential Functions

  • Develop and manage efficient processes for commissioning and acceptance of equipment with Roadway Equipment teams and OEMs and maintain all records for managing warranty and its close outs.
  • Support the program managers / procurement team in closing out the warranty period.
  • Support system development for tracking and reporting the warranty program, improving AMTRAK fleet reliability and facilitate spare parts demand planning.
  • Acts as the main point of contact for commissioning, acceptance and warranty functions for MOW Equipment and Vehicles.
  • Foster effective relationships with key end users in various field locations and across departments.
  • Process warranty claims, ensure the completion of documentation and assist addressing system issues.
  • Support end-users on a regular basis to resolve all warranty related issues.
  • Support the development of a centralized warranty system to maintain customer warranty data.
  • Drive supplier warranty dispositions to ensure compliance with warranty provisions of the contracts.
  • Track and maintain consignment inventory under warranty.
  • Analyze denied claims with tear down reports provided by vendor (if available). Provide input to strategic procurement team on new supplier contracts for correct and/or improved warranty terms and conditions and compliance to standards.
  • Coordinate with buyer/supplier to verify applicable warranty terms.
  • Develop list of system issues to be prioritized with IT for the continued improvement of the current warranty system.
  • Other tasks as assigned by the leadership.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Engineering or a combination of training, education and relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Experience: 6-9 years of relevant experience in managing aftermarket/ field service operations of heavy equipment/ railway equipment / manufacturing industry/ Class 1 Railroad
  • Supervisory experience in the management of large equipment fleet and complex contracts.
  • Must have the ability to coordinate and lead efforts with other technical disciplines and have knowledge of scheduling, budgeting, cost forecasting and estimating.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities under tight constraints.
  • Possess strategic and tactical skills required for planning and executing complex project work.
  • Strong leadership, effective communication, motivation, and team building/team performance skills.
  • Strong Safety Focus.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Demonstrated experience in using PC-based word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint) to prepare effective business analyses and presentations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Valid driver’s license

 

Preferred Experience, Education or Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree required OR equivalent combination of training, education and relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • 6-9 years of relevant experience preferred
  • Ability to use and develop graphs, infographics, and other methods to visualize data.
  • Experience reviewing warranty data with Supplier Quality Assurance team for supplier quality issues.
  • Ability to generate reports for leadership teams as well as buyers on the aging of claims with the suppliers.
  • Experience Collaborating with Supplier Quality and Warranty teams to drive system and process automation and improvement.
  • Experience reviewing feedback from Supplier Quality Assurance team’s review of denied warranty claims and complete follow-up research if necessary.
  • Knowledge on how to leverage best practices and make decisions based on the best interests of the internal customers and Amtrak.
  • Knowledge of BMWE labor agreements, FRA Regulations, MW1000 and NORAC.
  • Qualified or could get qualified in RWP and AMT II.

 

Work Environment 

  • Combination of Office and field environment.
  • Demanding environment with frequently changing priorities.
  • Travel up to 50% of the time may be required.
  • This position is based out of Wilmington, DE.

The salary/hourly range is $94,300-$122,256. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. Depending on an employee’s assigned worksite or location, Amtrak may consider a geo-pay differential to be applied to the employee’s base salary. Amtrak may offer additional incentive and pay programs to recognize and reward our employees, including a short-term incentive bonus based upon factors such as individual and company performance that is commensurate with the level of the position and/or long-term incentive plan compensation.
